Ingrid Michaelson is the poster child for independent artists. The happily independent artist’s latest album, Girls and Boys has been consistently rotating at WERS since its debut reaching 15 plays 4 weeks ago.
Songs like The Way I am and Die Alone helped drive the album to a peak #63 on the Billboard chart and attracted attention from The Gap for use in one of their commercials.
Ingrid is incredibly talented and I wonder if she’d be much larger today if she had a record label. As much as I hate to say it, labels still have the power to bring artists to the massive masses, but maybe its better if she stays our little secret.
